WHAT THE APPLICATION DOES Your MailCall saves and replaces, but does not delete, the AOL mail delivery sound file,"you got mail", allowing you to choose the sound you desire by clicking the "Apply" button. You will hear that very sound you choose then next time you get mail from your AOL program. Your MailCall remembers the last sound you applied and uses that sound until you decide to change, using the apply button. The best part is that you can create your own sounds, drag and drop them into the box from your desktop and then apply them in Your MailCall. You can sample all the sounds on the fly just by selecting the file you see in the main window. You can listen and apply any file you have from any other source manually, provided it is a .wav file, can be inserted in the "c:\program files/YourHost.com/MailCall/volume1" directory and will show up in the Your MailCall program window. 1.TROUBLESHOOTING THE Your MailCall SOFTWARE The Your MailCall software has been extensively tested and should be trouble-free. You must have sound on your computer to run this program. The Your MailCall program very basic and simple. Most of the time your computer configuration is usually at fault. WE ARE SORRY, BUT WE DO NOT SUPPORT COMPUTER CONFIGURATION PROBLEMS RELATING TO SETTING UP YOUR SOUND FUNCTIONS. YOU WILL NEED TO CONSULT THE COMPANY OR PERSON WHO CONFIGURED YOUR SYSTEM. We can help you with some helpful hints that might pinpoint your problem. Take these steps to determine configuration problems: Start at your computer's window's desktop. This is the open area with all your icons on it. You will know that you are in the right place if you see your "Recycle Bin" or "My Computer" icons. At the lower left-hand side of your desktop Press the "Start" button Select "Settings" Select the "Control Panel" Select the "Sounds" Icon Make sure that the Icon is not grayed out or dulled out, compared to the other Icons in the Control Panel. If the Sound Icon is grayed out, STOP right here! The Your MailCall software will not work. It is not the Your MailCall program at fault! You to have your sound card configuration. See you're the Computer manufacturer. Back to the Control Panel, Sounds Icon, If you can open the sound box and get to the "Sound Properties" window, select a sound in the "Events" window. The Sound preview box should have an Icon in it and you can press the arrow or play button to the right of the "Preview" window. If your sound is installed properly, you will see a quick movement of the buttons from left to right. If you press the play button and you do not hear a sound and it looks like it is actuating, or switching quickly, your sound card is probably working ok and the problem is more than likely in the speakers. Check the speaker power, the wire from the computer to the speakers, and the connection between the two speakers. Once you get sound from the "Sound Properties" window. Your Mail Program will work just fine. 2. INSTALLING THE Your MailCall SOFTWARE Installation of Your MailCall is painless. When you download the program from the site, you will be asked if you would like to open the file or save it. Choose open it and the program will immediately start the installation process. You will be prompted with exactly where you want to put the system files. It is recommended that you let the program choose and create the directory. Your MailCall will install to the "drive letter i.e. (C:):/program files/YourHost.com/". 4. SOUND VOLUMES AND WHERE THEY ARE LOCATED Volume I of sounds represent the first release of Your MailCall sounds. These sounds will sit in a directory by themselves. The program will default to Volume I directory. Look for more Volumes to come at yourhost.com/mailcall/sounds. UNINSTALLING THE Your MailCall SOFTEARE If For some strange reason, should you choose to uninstall Your MailCall, Do not delete the directory. Follow the standard Windows uninstall protocol in this document. Uninstalling Mail is very easy to do. Go to the Add/Remove Programs Icon in the Control Panel, look for the list of programs that you have installed in your computer and select Your MailCall Software in the box, it should be highlighted. Select the Remove button, in the lower left hand corner labeled "Add /Remove box." You get to the Control Panel by: Pressing "Start" Settings Control Panel Add/Remove Programs 6. APPLYING SOUNDS Installation of Your MailCall is painless. When you download the program from the site, you will be asked if you would like to open the file or save it. Choose open it and the program will immediately start the installation process. You will be prompted with exactly where you want to put the system files. It is recommended that you let the program choose and create the directory by default. It will install to the "drive letter i.e. (C:):/program files/YourHost.com/MailCall/" . 7. DELETING SOUNDS The program will not allow you to delete the original sound files for obvious reasons. You may remove the original files if you use the Windows Explorer and you physically remove them from the drive letter i.e."(C:):/program files/YourHost.com/MailCall/volume1" directory. Then they will disappear from the program window. You may want to move them rather than delete them. 8. SELECTING DIFFERENT SOUNDS All the Sounds in the program window are descriptive and easy to tell what it is. Each sound you select or click will automatically play. If it does not play, you must confirm that your audio board is configured properly and that the speakers are properly hooked up. Upon installation, your original sound file you were using in AOL is preserved and can be restored by clicking the "Original Sound" selection, followed by the "Apply" button. 9. DRAG N' DROP NEW SOUNDS AND WHERE DO THEY GO. You may drop and drag as many sounds as you wish into the window from other sources that contain wave files or ( .wav ) files. The actual name that you use or name for the file will be the name that will show up in the Your MailCall program window. The names are only links to where your files are on your computer. They are not permanent copied or moved into the "Mail Call" directory. The links will disappear when you close Your MailCall. If you press the "Apply" button to one of the linked or dragged files, it will remain in the Mail Call directory when the program is closed. Don't forget to say "yes" to the "would you like to save the changes to Your MailCall" when closing Your MailCall. If you wish a sound to remain on your "Your MailCall" program sound list, you must copy the file you wish into the "program files/MailCall/Volume1" directory and it will show up. Using drop N' drag, Your MailCall will save only one sound you apply within Your MailCall. REMEMEBER: WE DO NOT DELETE ANY OF YOUR FILES THAT YOU DRAG INTO Your MailCall OR ANYOTHER OF YOUR FILES. 10. MAKE RECORDINGS OF YOUR OWN CUSTOM SOUNDS You can import your own sounds you make into Your MailCall and listen to them before you apply them. Our next version will have a sound recorder utility built into Your MailCall. If you have a microphone and a recording utility in windows, you can make your own files. You must save your recordings in a(.wav) format, which is a common in the windows, sound player utility. If your Windows sound player/recorder is installed, you can reach the utility with the following instructions: Press "Start" Select "Programs" Select "Accessories" Select "Entertainment or media" Select "Sound Recorder" If your recorder does not work or show up, you might not have your sound card or the recorder utility configured properly. See "Troubleshooting" in this ReadMe Document. We are sorry, but we do not support computer configuration problems for this program. You will need to take it up with the Company or person that built your computer. 11. COMPATIBILITY WITH NETSCAPE, INTERNET EXPLORER, Eudora, AND OTHER WINDOW BASED Mail Clients.
